"Auntie’s Fry Bread opened a food truck in the heart of Los Angeles in April, bringing the first Native cuisine to the area. The small business, whose owners and chefs come from the Crow Indian Reservation in eastern Montana, is offering “Native American fusion” options to the big city. Auntie’s website tells the story and noted that they nearly sold out the first day of truck business.
Auntie’s offers traditional fry bread, fry bread “sliders” dessert fry bread and sarsaparilla to drink.
They put out this news release explaining their journey:
In LA’s culturally diverse Food Truck Culture, Native American culture has been underrepresented. Not just food trucks, but brick and mortar restaurants as well. Seeing this need, Kate Koyama and Eric Evans are opening the Auntie’s Fry Bread Gourmet Food Truck in a few weeks. According to Koyama, “Growing up in a community where fry bread is as common as hamburgers, I was surprised that a city as large and culturally diverse as Los Angeles did not offer fry bread.”"
